When Little Became Much: A Journey from Obscurity to Significance

When Little Became Much: A Journey from Obscurity to Significance

When a small book by the name of Once Upon a Time When We Were Colored tumbled out upon the table of public scrutiny, author Clifton Taulbert had no idea how God would use his small offering. Like the boy with five loaves and two fishes, a brown-bag lunch in the hands of Jesus became a feast of contentment and hope for thousands. In this simple telling of how unknowing obedience to God had a global impact upon untold numbers of lives, Clifton Taulbert once again shares the themes of life and faith and hope that transformed his future. No matter how small an offering you have, when you follow that God-nudge in your heart, you will begin a journey that takes little and turns it into much. From Glen Allan, Mississippi, to the Capitol building and beyond the seas, follow author Clifton Taulbert's story of what God can do with a small bag of food for the hungry heart. About the Author Clifton LeMoure Taulbert, Pulitzer-nominated author and international lecturer, was born in the Mississippi Delta at the end of World War II in the home of his great-grandparents, Reverend Joe and Pearl Young. Later he went to live with his great-aunt Elna, and it was from her small front room window that he saw the world and within her small bedroom that he experienced her faith. Clifton's first book was published in 1989.Once Upon a Time When We Were Colored became an international success and was made into a motion picture that won the 1996 NAACP Image Award. His second book, The Last Train North, was nominated for the Pulitzer Prize and was one of Doubleday's Discovery Book of the Year. It also was the first book by an African-American to win the Mississippi Institute of Arts and Letters Award for Non-Fiction. Clifton s third book, Watching Our Crops Come In, was hailed by The L.A. Times as required reading for all Americans. Eight Habits of the Heart was named by USA TODAY as their yearend choice of books to enrich our minds and lives. Clifton Taulbert has lectured and held workshops on leadership, community, and character development all over the globe in the education, business, and church sectors. He also founded the Building Community Institute to extend the reach of the timeless and universal values encountered during his youth and that permeate his stories.
